Swedish home furnishing retailer Ikea has engaged Bangalore-based UrbanClap as a furniture assembling partner for its first 4,00,000 sq. ft. store in Hyderabad to be launched soon.
In a statement, UrbanClap said it will now offer skilled and experienced professionals to IKEA customers for unpacking and assembling the furniture in 90 minutes.
“The partnership is a result of the mutual objective of the two brands to keep customer experience and efficiency at the centre of everything,” said Varun Khaitan, cofounder of UrbanClap. As a part of the agreement, the IKEA trained carpenters will be listed on the UrbanClap platform and customers will be able to order their services.
Patrik Antoni, deputy country manager, IKEA India, said, “IKEA will also have an in-house team of 150 assemblers, out of which today 75 are women in line.
As part of this collaboration, consumers purchasing a select range of IKEA furniture from the store will be able to book furniture assembly services via the UrbanClap app or website. IKEA will contribute in the training of the carpenters on UrbanClap’s platform, thereby, upskilling them to become professional IKEA assemblers. The experienced and trained professional will reach the required location in around 90 minutes, helping customers assemble their new furniture.
UrbanClap will use automated hyperlocal matchmaking to identify the best service professionals in a 5-7 km radius and will provide 30-day service guarantee and insurance against damages.

The IKEA trained carpenters will be listed on the UrbanClap platform and customers will be able to order their services. IKEA will also contribute in training the carpenters on UrbanClap's platform, thereby upskilling them to become professional IKEA assemblers. The company claims that the assembling service will reach the required location in around 90 minutes.
